Explanation

Grade point average is a credit-weighted average. Each course grade is converted to grade points, multiplied by course credits, and the totals are divided by total credits. This calculator uses a configurable standard U.S. 4.0 scale: A/A+ 4.0, A− 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0, B− 2.7, C+ 2.3, C 2.0, C− 1.7, D+ 1.3, D 1.0, D− 0.7, and F 0.

Semester GPA uses only the entered courses. Cumulative GPA combines their grade points and credits with an optional previous GPA and completed-credit total. Numeric grades use the selected scale’s percentage thresholds. Institutional policies vary, so verify rounding, repeated-course, pass/fail, and plus/minus rules with your school.
